Canvass Director
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is seeking an experienced Field Canvass Director. Canvass Director Experience required. Responsibilities include managing and training staff, fundraising, educating citizens about current threats to women’s health rights. Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic are necessary. This is a full time position. Salary is $35,000 per year plus bonus and great benefits package.

Internship Positions:
Administrative Assistant Intern

Administrative Assistant Internship

Reports to: Director of Administration 

Available: Jan-March 2008 (longer if intern is available)

Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week, flexible schedule M-F 9am – 5pm.

Compensation: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington will help secure academic credit if applicable.

 

Summary

The Administrative Assistant Intern will be responsible for efficient maintenance of the NARAL Pro-Choice Washington office space, database management, and other clerical work.  This position will give the intern hands-on experience with the daily business of a small non-profit organization.

 

In order to truly work on behalf of all women, NARAL is also committed to changing the face of reproductive rights activism by confronting issues of movement diversity; therefore NARAL highly encourages women and men of color to apply.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·        Track donations, maintain up to date records

·        Input pledges and payments

·        Make address corrections

·        Household Records and clean up duplicates.

·        Update our sustaining membership file.

·        Filing documents in Date Order and Alphabetically

·        Assist Director of Administration as needed

Auction Ad Sales Intern

Auction Intern: Ad Catalogue Sales

Available: June 2009 to the end of October 2009. The ideal candidate will be available for this entire period of tome. However, candidates that are available for at least June through August will also be considered. 

Reports to: Development Associate

Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week, flexible schedule M-F 9am – 5pm.

Compensation: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington will help secure academic credit if applicable.

 

Summary:

Intern assists Auction Coordinator & Development Associate specifically with calling mostly pro-choice supporters and businesses to advertise ad sales for Auction catalogue.

 

In order to truly work on behalf of all women, NARAL is also committed to changing the face of reproductive rights activism by confronting issues of movement diversity, therefore NARAL encourages women of color to apply.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Heavy emphasis on phone calling

·        Sell ads in our Auction catalogue

·        Mostly calling a list of identified NARAL supporters and pro-choice businesses, but there is some cold calling.

·        Related tracking and administrative work

·        Related follow-up with leads over phone and e-mail

 

Qualifications:

Auction Intern

Auction Intern

Available: June 2009 to the end of October 2009. The ideal candidate will be available for this entire period of tome. However, candidates that are available for at least June through August will also be considered. 

Reports to: Development Associate

Hours: Minimum of 10 hours per week, flexible schedule M-F 9am – 5pm.

Summary:

Intern assists Auction Coordinator & Development Associate with all Auction related activities from item procurement to data entry to organizing items, donors, and guests.

 

In order to truly work on behalf of all women, NARAL is also committed to changing the face of reproductive rights activism by confronting issues of movement diversity, therefore NARAL encourages women of color to apply.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Call donors for item donations

·        Track donations, maintain up to date records in Auction Database

·        Assist with the procurement of auction items, call and follow up with potential donors and help to pick-up items

·        Must be available all day on the day of the auction: Saturday, October 24, 2009.

·        Respond to and track people who RSVP for event

·        Assist Development staff as necessary with other tasks

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong personal commitment to a woman’s right to choose
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Strong computer skills including Word and Excel as well as Publisher, Photoshop and Powerpoint requested
  • Experience with events (auction, theatrical, promotional, charity, etc) preferred

Auction Procurement Intern

Auction Intern: Fair & Festival Procurement

Available: June 2009 to the end of August 2009. The ideal candidate will be available for this entire period of time.

Reports to: Auction Coordinator

Hours: 8-10 hours per week, mostly on weekends.  Some weekday office work also required, flexible schedule M-F 9am – 5pm.

Compensation: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington will help secure academic credit if applicable.

 

Summary:

Intern assists Auction Coordinator & Development Associate by attending summer fairs and festivals in the greater-Seattle area and procuring art and jewelry.  These items will be sold at the NARAL auction this fall.  The auction is our largest fundraiser of the year and, as such, is instrumental in allowing us to do the critical work we do for Washington State.

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Attend summer fairs and festivals to scout out artists and jewelry makers.

Bellingham “Run for Your Rights” Run/Walk Intern

Reports to: Director of Volunteer & Youth Programs in downtown Seattle office

Available: June – August 2009

Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week, flexible schedule Sunday-Thursday. Two evenings a week required. 

Compensation: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington will help secure academic credit if applicable.

 

Summary

Intern position will directly assist staff with all development activities relating to the “Run for Your Rights” Run/Walk event on Saturday, August 29th at Lake Padden in Bellingham. Intern will be expected to attend the event.

 

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is committed to protecting, as a fundamental freedom, every woman's right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion.  In order to truly work on behalf of all women, NARAL is also committed to changing the face of reproductive rights activism by confronting issues of movement diversity.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·        Researching potential allied organizations and businesses in Bellingham area.

·        Assisting with all elements of planning and implementing the event.

·        Making phone calls relating to event registration and turnout.

·        Help manage event registration.

·        Solicit donations for food, water, door prizes.

·        Publicize the Run/Walk via flier, emails, postcards, phone calls, community calendars, MySpace, Facebook, etc.

·        Help with all logistics for run/walk including set up and take down.

·        Other tasks as necessary.

 

Qualifications            

  • Strong personal commitment to a reproductive justice.
  • Willingness to talk to strangers on the phone and in person.
  • Outgoing personality and willingness to work with volunteers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a great sense of humor.

Information Technology Internship

Available: Early June through late August, although interns may stay on longer than 3 months.

Reports to: Director of Administration

Hours: approximately 5 hours per week, flexible schedule M-F 9am – 5pm.

Compensation: This position is unpaid. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington will help secure academic credit if applicable. 

Summary:
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington & Foundation is seeking a Technology Intern to assist with network documentation, computer preventative maintenance, end user issues and server tasks. The Technology Intern will be taught everything they need to know to be successful in their internship.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Help to document network by developing comprehensive Network Diagram
  • Maintain, follow and update computer preventative maintenance schedule
  • Assist with resolving end user issues amongst the employee base of the organization. 

Preferred

  • A good understanding of a typical network configuration
  • A good understanding of software and hardware on a computer.

Summer Tabling Intern

Compensation: $500/month Stipend

Days/Times: 15-20 hours a week on Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays

Duration:  May-August 31, 2009.  Interviews starting ASAP!  Training for this internship will occur the week of May 11th and official work out in the field will begin the weekend of May 15-17.

 

Responsibilities:

This intern will be part of a 5 person team that will focus primarily on outreach and base building by gathering petition signature and running information tables at summer fairs and festivals.  This will include large, local festivals such as The U District Fair, the Fremont Fair, and Bumbershoot.  However, it will also require travel to areas outside of Seattle such as Snohomish, Yakima, Pierce Co, and Issaquah.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

·         Staff signature collecting events (festivals, concerts, etc) on weekends.

·         Set up and take down booth at fairs.

·         Collect and track the number of signatures set as the event’s goal.

·         Proactively approach strangers to sign petitions and train volunteers to do the same.

·         Orient, supervise, and thank volunteers at events.

·         Oversee tabling supplies and restock as needed.

·         Report to supervisor conclusion of each weekend.

·         Help represent NARAL as a positive, pro-choice, progressive organization.

·         Think of creative ways to make our table/booth fun, interactive, and approachable. 

 

Other Skills

·          Must have valid driver’s license and personal transportation.

·          Spanish fluency is a plus.

·          Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

·          Good oral and written communication skills.

·          Must be outgoing and assertive.

·          Weekend, evening, and holiday work required.

·          Commitment to the protection of the fundamental right to choose a safe and legal  abortion and a full range of reproductive choices.
