The Truth About Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Panelists: Sara Ainsworth, Dr. Anna Altshuler, & Alyssa Piraino

Crisis Pregnancy Centers (also referred to as Limited Service Pregnancy Centers) offer free pregnancy tests, “pregnancy options counseling,” and ultrasound imaging.  More often than not these centers are located near colleges or in low-income neighborhoods.  So what’s the problem?  Hear from a lawyer, a college student, and a doctor about the misleading information and manipulative tactics some of these centers use so to prevent women from using contraception and seeking abortions.

Comprehensive & Medically Accurate Sex Education: Want it?  Get it!

In this workshop you’ll learn about the history of sex education of Washington State, the passage of the Healthy Youth Act, why comprehensive sec education is the best way to keep young people healthy, and what components are included on a quality sex education curriculum.  You’ll also have the opportunity to network with students from your region and strategize steps you can take in your school district to make sure quality sex education programs are being implemented.

Our Democracy needs YOU: Preparing for a Career in Politics

Being an elected official is one of the most powerful ways a person can advocate for social justice and protect the right to choose.  However, there is a wide range of career opportunities for young people that are interested in politics and social justice.  This panel will include the perspectives of an elected official, a lobbyist, a legislative assistant, and political organizers.  Learn why we need young people like YOU to think a bout a career in politics and what you can do today to prepare for a political career tomorrow.

Pro-Choice Organizing by Youth, For Youth 

Panelists: Sarah Henderson, Caitlin Moore, & Collin Dahl-Veenstra, Chelsea Tremblay

This workshop will be led by three pro-choice high school and college students who will share their experiences starting school clubs and organizing events for youth.
