Youth Leadership Summit

Thank you to all the pro-choice students and summit presenters who made NARAL Pro-Choice Washington's "I HEART Choice" Youth Leadership Summit a huge success!

Saturday, February 27, at the University Of Washington HUB.

“I HEART Choice” was a day-long event featuring speakers, panels, and workshops on a variety of issues related to youth and the pro-choice movement.  It was an excellent opportunity to learn valuable information and gain practical leadership skills.  This is an annual event.

Some of the topics discussed in the summit were:

  • The Problem with Health Care Reform: We all agree that there are problems with our health care system that must be fixed.  However, if the bill is passed as it is currently written it will present serious barriers to abortion access.  Find out who is will be most marginalized and what this will really look like in the lives of women.
  • Reproductive rights…not just a “women’s issue”: Hear from men who are professionals in the field of reproductive health and rights about why it is important for young men to be involved, how the these issues impact young men, and what you can do about it.
  • Careers that Influence Reproductive Health and Rights: Ever thought about working in politics or becoming an abortion provider? Learn more about these exciting career possibilities that make a difference in women's lives.
  • I Want to do Pro-Choice Activism on My Campus!: By students for students!  This panel of pro-choice college students will share their experiences starting school clubs and organizing pro-choice events for youth.
  • Art as Activism: Meet local, working artists ad learn how they use their art as a form of activism and to promote social change.
  • …and MUCH MORE!
