Summer Update

Our Stand with Women Day of Action on International Women's Day was a gigantic success. More than 200 people assembled at the State Capitol for a member summit with community discussion sessions. We rallied on the capitol steps, held a people's filibuster in the capitol rotunda, and delivered pro-choice messages to our lawmakers demanding that they stand with women or get out of the way!

More than 270 engaged activists participated in five Political Action Workshops that we held throughout Western Washington in the aftermath of the November presidential election. And more than 2,700 members have taken action this year using our online advocacy tools to contact their lawmakers, sign a petition, or pledge support for a NARAL campaign.

We work in key districts, where we know our movement has the power to influence swing voters, mobilize pro-choice progressives, and apply pressure to pro-choice lawmakers. Our canvass team puts boots on the ground in these districts, distributing "This Neighborhood Trusts Women" signs in anti-choice lawmakers' neighborhoods to show politicians that they are out of touch with the constituents and demand representation.

We've made incredible strides in our youth organizing. Our student-run Huskies for NARAL group has engaged over 650 students activists at the University of Washington. The group hosts events, plans protests, and educates and empowers students to fight for reproductive freedom on and off campus.

In 2017 our community organizers have had conversations about the state of reproductive freedom in Washington with an astounding 7,000 people; gathered 4,000 signatures; and engaged 1,500 new NARAL Pro-Choice Washington members.
