Help Keep Clinics Safe!
The tragic assassination of Dr. Tiller is a wake-up call that more needs to be done to protect women's health care providers and their patients.
The Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, passed in 1994, makes it illegal to intentionally use force or threaten force to intimidate or interfere with individuals obtaining or providing reproductive health care services. The National Task Force on Violence Against Health Care Providers was established in 1998 to commit the Department of Justice to enforce FACE and to work with local jurisdictions to keep clinics safe, but became virtually dormant during the Bush Administration.
Now, 15 years after the passage of FACE, Dr. Tiller's murder has illustrated the urgent need for an active task force that will make sure the law is fully enforced.
Send a message to the White House urging President Obama to empower the National Task Force to fully enforce the FACE Act. We cannot allow anti-choice extremists to terrorize health care providers and the women they serve.
