Vote Pro-Choice
Using this guide
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington PAC reviews candidate questionnaires and interviews candidates, and makes recommendations to our Board of Directors for endorsements.
Candidates whose names appear in bold are 100% pro-choice and strongly endorsed by NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. (If more than one name appears in bold for the same seat, we made a dual-endorsement.)
Names that are in italics are 100% pro-choice candidates.
Candidates whose names appear in regular type may not be 100% pro-choice but are strongly recommended over their opponents.
If candidates in your district are not listed here, it is either because they did not return our questionnaire or because we were unable to identify a pro-choice candidate.

NARAL's endorsements for the General Election are below.
| Jay Inslee for Governor NARAL Pro-Choice Washington has proudly endorsed Jay Inslee because he is the only proven, 100% pro-choice candidate in this race. He fought for access to reproductive health care in Congress, and he has endorsed the Reproductive Parity Act, key state legislation protecting health insurance coverage for abortion care.
In stark contrast, Rob McKenna dragged our state into the failed lawsuit against the federal health care reform law, demonstrating his willingness to jeopardize millions of women’s access to birth control, annual exams, cancer screenings, and other basic health care. And when a young woman asked him for his position on the Reproductive Parity Act, rather than answer her question, he rudely told her to "go get a job.”
Jay Inslee is the pro-choice, pro-contraception, pro-woman candidate for Governor. |

For Candidates:
For over 30 years, a woman’s right to choose has been a defining issue in election campaigns in Washington State. The majority of voters in this state are pro-choice. In 1970 Washington was the first state to legalize a woman’s right to choose by a vote of the people. In 1991, Washington voters approved Initiative 120, codifying the Roe v. Wade decision. More recently, in 1998, the voters of this state defeated Initiative 694, the so-called "partial birth abortion” ban. Thus it is clear that winning the pro-choice vote in Washington State is essential for many candidates.
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington endorses Democratic and Republican pro-choice candidates in state and local races where a woman’s right to choose is at stake. An endorsement from NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is an effective way to show the voters of Washington that choice is an issue in your campaign and that there is a real difference between candidates on this issue. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington PAC can also provide financial assistance, pro-choice lists, mailings, targeted phone calls and assistance with message development.
If you are interested in an endorsement or have questions about our endorsement process, please contact Jennifer Brown at jbrown@prochoicewashington.org or (206) 624-1990.
