Representative Helen Sommers – the Right Choice for the 36th District

A state representative since 1973 and the head of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, Helen Sommers has a strong pro-choice voting record. In the 2003 and 2004 legislative sessions, Sommers voted for medically-accurate information in sex education courses. In 1998, Sommers voted against Washington’s version of the so called “Partial-Birth Abortion” Ban, a deceptive and dangerous bill that threatened the health of women in our state. Sommers also voted against the Parental Notification for Abortions bill. The bill would have required that a parent be notified before their minor child has an abortion performed.
