Rossi Calls Gregoire a "Nice Lady"
Taking a page out of the national Republican playbook, Dino Rossi has brought negative, anti-woman campaigning to Washington state. Recently women leaders have observed that one of Rossi’s stump messages is, “the Attorney General is a nice lady and all but, you know, what’s her connection to the business community.”
Rossi’s insistence upon referring to Gregoire as “a nice lady, but…” is an attempt to diminish and downplay her extensive qualifications for the job of governor. Click here to see for yourself! Its like listening to a wind-up doll!
The ‘nice lady’ theme has emerged in other campaigns orchestrated by Rossi’s infamous Republican consultant, Scott Howell. South Carolina Republican Senate candidate, Jim DeMint (also a Howell client), has also taken to referring to his female opponent Inez Tenenbaum as, “a nice lady, but…” Click here to see the full story on this tactic in action in the South Carolina Senate race.
Rossi’s comments have raised the ire of Washington women who won’t be dismissed as, “nice ladies.” This isn’t South Carolina and we don’t take that sort of thing sitting down.
Our suggestion: Dino should ask the good old boys at Philip Morris about what a ‘nice lady’ Christine Gregoire is….
