Faced with overwhelming opposition, the state Board of Pharmacy is backing off from a controversial proposal that would allow pharmacists, based on their personal beliefs, to deny filling prescriptions for emergency contraception.
The board endorsed a draft of the proposal earlier this year but voted unanimously Thursday to reconsider the language at its August meeting.
