Bush's Anti-Birth-Control Director of Family-Planning Program Resigns
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington welcomes the resignation of Eric Keroack, Bush’s anti-birth control, anti-sex education appointee to Director of the Office of Population Affairs at the Department of Health and Human Services. “Perhaps now the Bush Administration will acknowledge America’s pro-choice majority and end its attacks on women’s freedom and privacy.” said Karen Cooper, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. “The president should take this opportunity to end his attack on women’s reproductive health by appointing a medical professional who actually believes in birth control to lead the nation’s family-planning program.” NARAL Pro-Choice Washington had opposed Keroack’s appointment due to this anti-birth control track record, including serving as the medical director of five so-called 'crisis pregnancy centers' and advocacy for abstinence-only programs.
