Anti-Choice Extremist Dino Rossi Opposes Access to Birth Control
Gregoire TV Ad Highlights Rossi’s Anti-Contraception Record SEATTLE – The Gregoire Campaign has released a new TV ad attacking Republican Dino Rossi’s position in opposition to access to birth control, including Plan B emergency contraception. The ad underscores in particular the critical importance of access to Plan B for sexual assault survivors. “The Gregoire ad has it exactly right,” said Karen Cooper, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington. “As extremist as it sounds, it’s true: Dino Rossi stands in opposition to women’s access to birth control.” Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi believes that pharmacists should be able to refuse to dispense birth control, including Plan B emergency contraception (a high dose version of the regular birth control pill), for personal, non-medical reasons. As a state senator, he voted against insurance coverage for birth control. “We cannot have a governor who compares birth control, which is basic health care for women, to flavors of sports drinks,” Cooper added, referencing a recent interview with Rossi in the Seattle Times. “Rossi’s complete disregard for women’s health care is offensive and dangerous.” “Gov.
